In this episode of the Average JOES Podcast, we have a conversation with Johannes "Kobus" Appelgrijn. Kobus talks about growing up in South Africa, serving as a pastor for 35 years, and his second career as the Executive Director of West Pasco Habitat for Humanity and a coach for pastors. Kobus talks about Sunday evening services being the evangelistic meetings. Kobus also discusses that many pastors believe they need to project the perfect image, which is nothing more than the "Holy Man Myth." He says the pastorate can be very lonely and very difficult for the pastor's wife and children. Kobus Appelgrijn: "Often, pastors serve at the 'pleasure' of the local congregation... pastors are called to be representatives of the Lord."
