In this third episode of the Average JOES Podcast, we have a conversation with Carl Ellison who is the Lead Pastor at First Baptist Church of New Tampa. Carl talks about his family, his relationship with Jesus Christ, and how God has given him an unquenchable desire for God's Word. In the midst of the conversation, Carl discuses Howard Hendrick's book, "Iron Sharpens Iron," as well as, Mark MacDonald's book, "Be Known For Something." Carl tells the story of how he came to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and remembering at 4 years of age, watching Billy Graham on television, and the Holy Spirit convicting his 4 year old heart. Carl explains that he wandered away from his Savior as a teenager, and how God used some difficult circumstances in his life to draw him back. Carl talks about living with a "framework of Christianity" for many years without transformation, and how three life-changing events occurred on the same day to bring Carl to a point of total surrender. Question: Why are more professing Christians NOT disciples and disciple-makers?
